Born in 1969 in Dibrugarh. Santana Gohain graduated in Print Making from the Govt. College of Art and Crafts, Guwahati, Axom; with a first class first with distinction. She went on to do a post diploma in Print Making Specialization and was awarded a first class from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Vadodara.
Santana received a Junior Fellowship, from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi. She has attended several Art camps in India by Art Home, The Fine Art Company, Gallery Espace, Lalit Kala Akademi and the Faculty of Fine Arts.
From 1994 to 2006 Santana has participated in several shows in Vadodara, Delhi, Mumbai, New Jersey, San-Francisco, Bhopal, Bangalore, Chandigarh and Nagpur.
In 2004 she participated in an exhibition with International Artists in Vadodara. More recently she was part of a group show titled “Core Rhythms” which was presented by The Fine Art Company in 2007, Mumbai
Her solo shows include one at Nazar Art Gallery, in Vadodara(1999), ”Harmony” a collaborative show with her husband Ganesh Gohain at The Fine Art Company, Mumbai, “Existence” at The Fine Art Company(2002), Silent Speech in Ahmedabad and Vadodara by Alliance Francaise (2004), and her well received show “Silent Speech” at Museum Art Gallery by The Fine Art Company(2006), Mumbai.
Santana’s works are in private collections in India and abroad.
She lives and works in Vadodara.
