Rachna Paracher came to pottery in 1984, joining a hobby class in ceramics at Delhi Blue. She took to the medium as fish to water and she passionately went on to learn throwing, salt firing techniques and kiln building at Golden Bridge Pottery, Pondicherry in 1985 and 1987. In 1985 she attended a workshop by Dutch ceramists, Jan De Rooden and Johnny Rolf which exposed her to the process of salt glazing. She returned to Delhi in 1986 and joined the Garhi Studio where she worked till 1992, experimenting with forms, both on the wheel and off it. Awards and recognition soon followed, with invitations to participate in exhibitions and displays. In 1994 she shifted to her own studio in Noida where freedom and opportunity to experiment with forms and colours led her to create extremely exciting work. She also accepts students, teaching them pottery and glazing, and has started a small production line as well.
Rachna Parasher lives and works in NOIDA and New Delhi.
