ANANDAJIT RAY (b. 1965, Kolkata) did his B.A (Fine) Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda in 1989 and Post-Diploma Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University Baroda in 1991. He has held eight solo shows including Sakshi Gallery Mumbai (1993, 1994 , 1995, 2000 and 2004) and S.M.T.W.T.F.S, Nazar Art Gallery, Baroda, 1999. He has participated in numerous group shows including View from the Edge, curated by Sanjay Kumar, Sakshi Gallery (1995). Bangladesh Biennale (1997). In Conversation, curated by Gayatri Sinha, Gallery Espace (2001) Kapital and Karma curated by Angelika Fitz and Michael Worgotter, Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna (2002). New Indian Art: Home-Street-Shrine- Bazar-Museum, curated by Prof. Gulammohammed Sheikh and Dr. Jyotindra Jain, Manchester Art Gallery, Manchester City( 2002), Kaam, Arts India, New York in 2005 and Back to the future Gallery Espace in 2006.
In 1991 he received the Elizebeth Greenshields grant form Canada. In 1998 he illustrated a book of short stories ‘Wild Fire’ by Bonophool, published by Seagull publications. He was nominated for the Sotheby’s award, NGMA Mumbai in 1999.
